Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri oversees who enters and stays in the UAE, and who does not. As head of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFAD), he has helped implement significant visa changes and the airport e-gate system.
Major General Al Marri joined police training school in Dubai and obtained a diploma in police sciences in 1980. Since then he has served as shift duty officer, director of the forensic evidence department and deputy director of the directorate general of criminal investigations department. In 2008, he was promoted from Brigadier General to Major General. In 2011, he was appointed general supervisor of the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department, alongside his job as director-general of the GDRFAD.
