Mark Beer has been instrumental with DIFC Courts, the judicial authority of the Dubai International Financial Centre, for almost a decade. He is responsible for the overall administration and management and has helped elevate DIFC Courts onto the world stage as a leading commercial court system for businesses globally. His work was recognised in 2013 when he was made an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen of England’s Birthday Honours List.
Established in 2004, the DIFC Courts’ original function was to offer a legal backbone to the financial free zone. Following an overhaul of Dubai’s commercial legal system in 2011, the courts’ jurisdiction was extended to include those not connected to the DIFC.
