A record 6m people passed through international hub last month, says authorities
Passenger traffic through Dubai International Airport, one of the world's busiest, climbed 23.8 percent from a year earlier in August to a record six million people, airport authorities said on Tuesday.
In the first eight months of this year, traffic grew 16.4 per cent to 43.97 million people.
Dubai Airports said the strong growth in August, the fastest in three years, was partly due to travel related to the Ramadan holy month.
Cargo volume through the airport fell 3.1 percent from a year earlier in August to 184,877 tonnes, but rose 8.1 percent to 1.59 million tonnes in the first eight months. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
