The CEO of Dubai Airports has been included in Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday honours list.

Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, has been selected for the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for the British monarch's annual birthday honours list for 2015.

Listed under the Diplomatic Service and Overseas Lists, Griffiths, who is also vice president of the Royal College of Organists, was chosen for his services to British prosperity in the UAE and to music.

“It came as a huge surprise and I am absolutely delighted at this honour. I think this signifies the close relationship between the UAE and the UK,” Griffiths told Gulf News.

“This award is also a recognition for everyone associated with Dubai Airports and who have helped it grow to be the largest airport in the world.”

Also included on the Diplomatic Service and Overseas List is Robert Stokoe, director of Jumeirah English Speaking School, Dubai, who receives an OBE for services to education in the UAE.

Shane Nainappan, a former UK Asset Recovery Adviser to the UAE and GCC, was awarded an MBE “for services to law and order, particularly international cooperation”.
