Transaction time averages 10 to 15 seconds, speeding up immigration, says CEO Paul Griffiths
Dubai Airports has called on more residents to use their Emirates ID card to pass through automated smart gates at its three terminals in Dubai International Airport (DXB), according to a report.
Over 234,000 people have already used Emirates ID to pass through immigration at DXB. The service is free and requires no pre-registration, said Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths. It is available on all 127 smart gates across all three terminals at DXB.
“With a transaction time that averages 10 to 15 seconds, this is clearly a smarter way to travel. It speeds up the immigration process significantly and shortens queues. Our focus going forward is to get more residents using it,” Gulf News quoted Griffiths as saying.
Families travelling with children under the age of 18 can approach the manned counter next to the smart gates to complete the immigration process, the newspaper added.
On Sunday, Dubai Airports announced unlimited free high-speed Wi-Fi at DXB and Dubai World Central. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
