Emirate's glitterati and love of consumer culture to be captured in candid new series of images.
Dubai’s glitterati, bling and love of consumer culture is to be captured as part of a photographic exhibition which investigates how people spend their money.
British documentary photographer and photojournalist Martin Parr will visit the emirate in March, producing a series of works based on flamboyant events such as the Dubai World Cup and Cartier Polo World Cup as part of his Luxury series.
The photographer, whose work focuses on people, places and the everyday, said in a statement, “Traditionally poverty has been the frontline for the concerned photographer. I am happy to reverse this, and for many years have photographed the wealth of the West”.
Photographs taken at last years DIFC Art Fair and Dubai World Cup which document social interactions within the city will also be featured.
Digital prints will be displayed within 48 hours of the pictures being taken, creating an instantaneous exhibition, organisers said in a statement.
