Dubai developer inks deal for luxury Dominica hotel

Range Developments partners with Kempinski to build high-end resort on holiday island

Dubai developer inks deal for luxury Dominica hotel
A general view of Dominica.

A Dubai developer has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Dominica for the construction of a high-end luxury brand hotel in the north of the holiday island.

Range Developments Limited said hotel brand Kempinski has agreed to partner with it in the venture, Construction Week Online reported on Wednesday.

“We look forward to bringing an ultra-luxury branded five star hotel to the Commonwealth of Dominica and realising the Commonwealth of Dominica’s ambition to become a luxury destination for tourism in the coming years,” said Mohammed Asaria, vice chairman of Range Developments.

The hotel will have up to 125 rooms, the report said.

Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said: “This is the first MOU that the Government is signing under the Citizen by Investment Programme; the investment arm of our Economic Citizenship Programme which we believe is the way to go towards addressing economic development issues, employment and greater investment in our tourism industry. So we are very keen on engaging them and moving this process forward.”

Range Developments is currently developing the Park Hyatt project in St Kitts which will comprise 200 hotel rooms and 50 branded residential condominiums.

It will be built in three phases, with the first phase of 125 rooms due to be completed in December 2014.

The hotel will be part of the residential resort community of Christophe Harbour, which includes a super yacht marina, a Tom Fazio golf course and a private beach club.
