Airport retailer to launch discounts from Friday to Sunday; last year's event attracted sales of $51m
Dubai Duty Free has announced that it will again host a three-day sale starting on Friday, offering a 25 percent discount on a wide range of products to mark its 32nd anniversary.
In what has become an annual pre-Christmas event, the anniversary weekend also coincides with what the airport authorities expect to be the busiest days of travel at Dubai International Airport.
The 25 percent discount offer will be available for all departing, transiting and arriving passengers at Dubai International Airport and at Al Maktoum International Airport beginning at midnight on Thursday and ending at midnight on December 20, the retailer said in a statement.
Total sales during the three-day sale last year reached more than $51 million.
Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman of Dubai Duty Free, said: “The DDF anniversary promotion is now a highly-anticipated event with many travellers choosing to travel on the days when the 25 percent discount is offered. With this year’s celebrations falling on a particularly busy holiday weekend, we have extended the offer to three days so that our customers, suppliers and staff can join in the celebrations.”
Plans are also in place to conduct a Millennium Millionaire draw, a Finest Surprise Luxury Car draw and a series of other promotional activities.
When Dubai Duty Free opened for business on December 20, 1983, the operation had 100 employees, 35 of whom are still in active service. The operation currently employs almost 6,200 staff. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
