Fans queued from early morning to get the best tickets
Organisers of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships have said they will crackdown on touts attempting to sell tickets for inflated prices.
Fans braved the wet conditions in Dubai on Monday morning to queue to get the best tickets for the two-week event.
Included among the star-studded line-up are current world number one in both men’s and women’s, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, as well as defending champions Roger Federer and Venus Williams.
Organisers have said that while tickets for finals were in high demand, all top seeds will play in the early rounds.
7Days newspaper reported that many of those queueing for the best tickets on Monday were people looking to sell them on at a higher price. Organisers warned that they will be actively monitoring websites to ensure that tickets will not be re-sold.
“There is a condition of sale that tickets must not be re-sold and the organisers will be monitoring relevant websites to ensure any ads for tickets are removed,” said the spokesperson.
