Entries should be based on the Expo theme of Connecting Minds, Creating the Future
Dubai Expo 2020 has launched a nationwide design contest for its new logo, open to UAE locals or residents.
The winning design will become the official emblem for Expo 2020 Dubai, replacing the image that has represented the event since the UAE won the right to host the World Expo in 2020.
Entrants are invited to create a design that reflects the main theme of the event: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.
The contest submission period runs until April 30, with the winning design announced on October 20th this year, the start of the five year countdown to the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai.
All entries will be reviewed by a panel of design experts, with the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee creating a shortlist of finalists.
The eventual winner will win $27,000 (AED100,000) plus a trip for four to three previous World Expo cities, and receive a season pass for two for Expo 2020 Dubai, including an invitation to the official opening ceremony.
Dubai Expo officials have said it is common for major events to replace the official logo used during a bid campaign with one that has a new look and feel and embodies the energy and enthusiasm of a nation preparing for a major global event.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Board Representative of the Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee and Director General, Bureau Dubai Expo 2020, said that Expo 2020 Dubai will have something for everyone in both the lead-up to and during the event itself.
Applicants can apply through the Dubai Expo 2020 website.
