HE Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre:

“Hosting Expo 2020 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that will be maximised to accelerate the growth of the tourism industry in Dubai, the UAE and the wider GCC region. In our journey to achieve our target (20mill visitors annually by 2020), we will can now leverage the hosting of Expo 2020 and the focus it will place on Dubai as a means to attract visitors to Dubai, not just during the six months of the Expo itself, but in the seven years leading up to it. Between October 2020 and April 2021, more than 25 million visitors are expected to attend Expo 2020, 70 percent of which will be from outside the UAE - the largest number of international visitors in Expo history.”

General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina, General Commander of Dubai Police:

“Dubai has the ability to host Expo 2020 as we have a strong infrastructure and high standards. We also have an excellent communication system and lots of experience in hosting events. Dubai Police are using all its powers to advertise this global event by putting the Dubai Expo logo on our cars, especially the supercars.”

Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of Dubai Health Authority:

“Dubai has always walked the path of growth and development. Winning the bid to host Expo 2020 will further accelerate our pace of development and this includes the healthcare sector. We have already chalked out the Dubai Health Strategy 2013-2025 to keep pace with the growing population. Within the next five years, there will be more hospitals and health centres. We look forward to hosting Expo 2020 in Dubai - a place where ideas and aspirations are realised.”

“This victory is testament to the visionary leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the ingenuity of all Emirati people. We are proud to be Emirati today. The Expo will showcase Dubai’s unparalleled growth and confirm its place as a world leader. The impact of Expo 2020 will have a hugely positive effect on generations of Emiratis to come and will be the focal point for all investment over the next seven years. Congratulations to everyone involved. The task is now to prepare a city that will deliver an Expo unlike any seen before it and present Dubai to the world.”

Gerald Lawless, President and Group CEO of Jumeirah

“This is a testament to the great achievements of
Dubai under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, and the bright prospects for the future of the emirate. It is
expected that around 20 million tourists will visit Dubai in 2020, up from 11
million in 2013. By then Jumeirah will have extended its presence to more
global destinations, as well as having strengthened its portfolio of hotels in
the United Arab Emirates.”

Dr Amina Al Rustamani, Group CEO of TECOM Investments:

“Winning Expo 2020 is a remarkable achievement for the UAE. Hosting the event will be a catalyst for the ongoing diversification and development of Dubai’s knowledge economy. Companies of all sizes will benefit as they seek to support the event before, during and after the Expo. Importantly, through it all, TECOM Investments will play an important supporting role in providing the business-friendly, stable and dedicated environments from which thousands of companies will be able to compete and succeed, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.”

Mishal Kanoo, Deputy Chairman of Kanoo Group:

“Dubai is the jewel in the crown of three continents. It’s the midway between East and West, tying them together. To have the Expo in Dubai is not only fair, it is the right thing to do because it allows all the countries of the three continents to meet and form new bonds. For Dubai to win the Expo is, as Goldilocks said, “just right!”
