Dubai Film Festival appoints agencies

Advertising agency Bates PanGulf and public relations consultant JiWin are to handle communications for Dubai International Film Festival 2006 (DIFF).

Advertising agency Bates PanGulf and public relations consultant JiWin are to handle communications for Dubai International Film Festival 2006 (DIFF). MindShare has retained the media planning and buying rights for the event.

Organisers say that they are keen to highlight the festival’s cultural objectives this year, and that this played the key part in the agency selection process. The main advertising campaign for DIFF 2006 will start early in the last quarter of the year. However, the festival will continue with other initiatives and activities as a run-up to the event in December.

According to the organiser, this third edition of the festival will aim to showcase films that, ‘stimulate reflection, debate and inter-cultural dialogue.’ Using screening admissions as a measure, DIFF says that 30,000 people attended the 2005 event, growth of 60% on 2004.
