Dubai firm unveils plan for world's greenest eco resort

Eco Resort Group says it is building Oasis Eco Resort in southern region of UAE; set to open in 2020

Dubai firm unveils plan for world's greenest eco resort

Eco Resort Group, a Dubai-based company, has revealed plans to build the world's greenest eco resort in the emirate featuring 84 interconnecting suites.

The Oasis Eco Resort will be located in Liwa, the southern region of UAE, and is scheduled to open in 2020, the company said in a statement.

It added that it is one of several eco resorts the company is planning to launch over the next few years.

The resort will feature a total of 157,000 square feet of solar panels to provide all the energy needs while water will be extracted from ground and used for the resort.

Other key features include a zero-emission zone and onsite waste management while the resort will also employ wildlife biologists and conservation staff.

London-based Baharash Architecture have been tasked with the design which features a spring at its heart.

Baharash Bagherian, founder of Baharash Architecture, said: "At the very early stages of the project, we found out that we could extract groundwater using a deep well. This gave us an opportunity to create a story around a spring, which was of critical importance to Bedouins for trade and transportation routes."

The accommodation and functional areas of the resort will be distributed around the spring, he added.
