Dubai to host International Emmy Awards

News, Documentary qualifying rounds to be hosted by Dubai Media City.

Dubai Media City will host the semi-final of the Documentary and News Coverage categories for the 30th International Emmy Awards for Asia and Africa from June 15-16, 2002.“Dubai Media City is committed to promoting creative excellence in the media industry,” says Ahmad Bin Byat, Director General of the Dubai Technology, E-Commerce and Media Free Zone. “Hosting the judging of the International Emmy Awards opens another window of opportunity for us to strengthen our efforts in this arena on an international platform. We are confident that our work with the International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will enrich the regional media industry and help us expand our horizons in the field of global television programming,” he added.Abdulhamid Juma, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media City, will be one of the members of the judging panel, which will also include international television executives, producers and directors. Juma is a Board member of The International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the body that organises the International Emmy Awards.The International Emmy Awards are held annually to honour excellence in television programming outside the United States. The Documentary and News Coverage are two of the most highly contested categories of the Awards. The 30th International Emmy Awards gala ceremony will take place on November 25 in New York.
