Senior Rail Agency official says Mall of the Emirates station is most popular so far.
The number of commuters who have used Dubai Metro has already risen over 7.5m in four months, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Sunday.
Ramadan Abdullah, director of Rail Operation Department at Rail Agency said that the most popular station among the 11 open on the Red Line was still the Mall of the Emirates Station, which had 1,265,646 passengers through its doors in the first four months.
This was followed by Khalid bin Al Waleed Station with 1,111,301 passengers, Al Ittihad Station with 1,007,564 passengers, Al Rashidiya with 766,908 passengers, Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station with 766,472 passengers, Deira City Center Station with 749,930 passengers, Financial Center Station with 652,149 passengers, Al Rigga Station with 539,692 passengers, Al Jafiliya with 407,878, Airport Terminal 3 Station with 294,004 passengers and Dubai Mall Station with 30,522 passengers.
"What we see today is an evidence of the urban mutation witnessed by the city of Dubai in various fields, the latest of which is the Dubai Metro,” Abdullah added.
The Dubai Metro was officially opened on September 9 last year and its full completion is expected in the second half of the year when the Green Line starts operations.
The remainder of the Red Line is due to open in February.
Truly dubai metro is a blessing to the city's transportation network. It would be ideal if RTA begin and continue the expansion of metro onto Al Khail Road, Emirates Road, a link from DXB to JXB. It would also be greatly appreciated if the Green line is extended onto Academic City via International City.
Pls stop the Channel Music on the metro...or play some English FM. But pls stop the haunting music! Its dreadful...! Also, pls open the rest of the stations ASAP...I am waiting eagerly to use them!
