Drivers in Dubai will soon be able to renew their vehicle registration in malls and metro stations across the emirate, the RTA has confirmed.

According to a report in Gulf News, a series of services are to be offered including the renewal of driving licenses, payment of fines and applying for seasonal parking tickets. The paper said a number of smart kiosks are being installed in the next month, which will allow vehicle registrations to be completed in less than sixty seconds. Users will need an Emirates ID card and credit card to use the service.

Ahmad Mahboob, Director of RTA’s Customers Service, told Gulf News: “The smart kiosk is part of our strategy towards enhancing customer satisfaction in terms of saving their time and effort in processing their transactions. The service has proved successful so far with 73,000 transactions processed through the kiosks, which has encouraged us to go with ahead with our plans.”

He added: “Renewal of vehicle registration can be done through the kiosks in less than a minute and the cards are issued immediately, while accessing the same service online means the cards are dispatched after a couple of days.”
