Police Eye app allows users to report various suspicious activities anonymously
Dubai residents have been urged to make use of a new police app to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhood.
Dubai Police’s ‘Police Eye’ app launched last November but has reportedly since been updated for Android and iPhone and officials are asking citizens to use it.
Emirates247 quoted a Dubai Police official at the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE) this week as saying: “It’s still growing, and we need to spread awareness, and encourage more people to use this app.”
The app breaks down “suspicious behaviour” into 10 categories: disturbance, alcohol/drugs, suspicious vehicle, suspicious sales, gambling, vandalism, prostitution, begging, or other.
The informer can choose to share his identity or remain anonymous. “Unless it is a big case, no one [at Dubai Police] will disturb you,” the official reportedly said, adding that the app is available in seven languages – Arabic, English, Chinese, French, German and Russian.
