Contractor hired to carry out MEP services on mixed-use development; to be completed by end-2016
Dubai-based Drake & Scull International (DSI) has announced that it has been awarded a mechanical, electrical and plumbing contract worth AED110 million ($30 million) for Plaza View, a mixed-use development in Abu Dhabi.
The building comprises five levels of basement, ground and mezzanine floors, and 20 storeys for residential and commercial activities, Drake said in a statement.
The contract was awarded by Al Fara'a General Contracting (AFGCO), who is the main contractor for the project.
Under the terms of the agreement, DSI will complete its MEP services for the Plaza View project by the end of 2016.
The scope of work includes complete engineering detailing, procuring, installing, testing, commissioning and handover of MEP Systems, including water supply works, drainage, fire fighting, central LPG, air conditioning and ventilation, and the complete electrical system on site.
Khaldoun Tabari, CEO and vice-chairman of DSI, said: "With increasing demand for residential and commercial properties in Abu Dhabi, the construction sector in our capital city is expanding rapidly.
"Abu Dhabi is a vital market for DSI, forming nearly 11 percent of our backlog. The Plaza View project will be a welcome addition to the portfolio of hospitality projects that we've delivered in the UAE in the last 48 years."
DSI is currently executing several projects in Abu Dhabi, including the Abu Dhabi Airport South Airfield redevelopment, the Louvre Museum, the Central Market redevelopment, and the Fairmont Hotel and Serviced Apartments.
