Dubai developer Emaar has launched the first residential project as part of The Opera District, its new cultural hub being developed in Downtown Dubai.
The 66-storey tower will overlook the 2,000-seat performance venue Dubai Opera, and have what Emaar said were “uninterrupted” views of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and The Dubai Fountain.
The tower, named Opera Grand, will contain 200 luxurious two, three, and four-bedroom apartments.
The Opera District, launched last year, also will feature hotels, a retail plaza, waterfront promenades and recreational spaces situated around design studios, art galleries and other cultural venues intended to create a “vibrant cultural scene”.
Emaar said the Opera Grand would be an “architectural masterpiece” and feature a rooftop swimming pool with views of Downtown Dubai.
“The Opera District is one of the most defining new developments by Emaar that focuses on creating a compelling arts and cultural destination in the heart of the city,” Emaar managing director Ahmad Al Matrooshi said.
“With Dubai’s cultural scene gaining strong interest internationally, and a number of arts events welcoming thousands of cultural tourists to Dubai, The Opera District is uniquely positioned to provide a new lifestyle choice.”
Emaar intends for Dubai Opera to be as iconic in appearance as the world-famous Sydney Opera House. Its design is based on the traditional sailing vessels of the Arabian Gulf, with the ‘bow’ of the structure containing the main stage, orchestra and seating areas, as well as the proposed sky garden and restaurants.
Online registration for Opera Grand begins on May 7 at 10am. The sales launch will be simultaneously held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Singapore on a first-registered, first-served basis on May 10.For all the latest real estate news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
