Dubai developer Limitless has awarded a construction contract worth more than AED227.5 million ($61.8 million) for the completion of two residential towers at The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali, its 200 hectare master development.

The company said in a statement that it has appointed UAE-based Eastern International to carry out the work, which will start immediately and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2017.

The 27-storey towers are already 70 percent complete, Limitless added.

With a combined built up area of 936,000 square feet, the two towers comprise 641 apartments as well as ground-floor retail space spanning 68,000 sq ft.

Ali Rashid Lootah, chairman of Limitless, said: "The Galleries is already a firmly-established, vibrant commercial hub and home to some of the world's biggest names in business. With the completion of these two towers, we can look forward to The Galleries growing into a full mixed-use, strategically-located community that combines top-flight office accommodation with high-standards of living and leisure."

Limitless said it is seeing increased demand for residential units at The Galleries, adding that the two buildings will contain 641 units, including studios and one, two and three bedroom apartments, available for lease.

The Galleries features several international banks, a convenience store, nursery and a growing number of cafes and restaurants, with retail outlets on the way.

More than three quarters of The Galleries' available commercial space is occupied, with major business brands including Siemens, Ericsson, L'Oreal, Mondelez, and BASF.
