Dubai's RTA to increase frequency of trips on metro Red, Green lines

Dubai's transport authority on Saturday announced that it will increase the frequency of trains operating on the city's metro system from Sunday.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said in a statement that it will increase the number of Metro trips on the Red & Green lines in reply to the growing demand, especially during the early morning and peak hours. 

In total, 276 new trips are being added on weekly basis, 154 on Red Line and 122 on Green Line, starting on October 23.

The RTA said to address the early morning passengers, three additional short trips would operate each day from Saturday to Thursday and five additional trips on Friday on the Red line.

From Sundays to Thursdays, two extra trips will operate towards Rashidiya and one trip towards UAE Exchange, with the first trip starting at 6.07am from the Dubai Internet City station.

The second trip will start at 6.27am from the Al Jafiliya station while the third will operate on the Red Line, starting at 6.02am from the Burjuman station.

On Fridays, five additional trips will operate on the Red Line of which three will operate towards Rashidiya and two will operate towards UAE Exchange with the first trip starting at 10.14am from the Dubai Internet City station.

The second trip will start at 10.23am from the Business Bay station while the third will operate on the Red Line, starting at 10.31am from the Burjuman station. 

The RTA said the fourth extra trip will also operate on the Red Line starting at 10.05am from the Deira City Center station with the fifth starting at 10.06am from the Al Jafiliya station.

On Saturdays, three additional trips will operate on the Red Line, with the first one starting at 6.03am from the Dubai Internet City station. The second trip will start at 6.21am from the Al Jafiliya station while the third additional trip will start at 6.02am from the Burjuman station.
