The RTA is planning to ease traffic congestion with two new road projects in the Creek area of the city.

The two projects, at a cost of between AED1.7 billion ($462 million) and AED2 billion ($544 million), will go to tender next month, according to Khaleej Times.

The first project will improve parallel streets in the Godolphin and Zaabeel neighbourhood, which is expected to take 30 months to complete. It includes roads, bridge works and a number of underpasses, all of which are hoped to ease traffic flow in the area.

The second project due to go to tender is Al Ittihad bridge, which will replace the current Floating Bridge. The new Al Ittihad bridge will have a capacity of 24,000 vehicles per day. The Floating Bridge will be shifted to connect the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street in Bur Dubai and Omar bin Al Khattab Road in Deira.
