Dubai set to launch new performing arts centre

Dubai set to launch new performing arts centre

Dubai is set to see the launch of a new performing arts centre, The Hive, in Bur Dubai on March 7.

The new facility will offer theatre, art, music, and dance workshops, including public speaking workshops, stand-up comedy, audio-visual screenings, and Improv theatre.

“Our main aim at The Hive is to offer an address perfect for experimental, unconventional and intimate art experiences. A space for almost anything - to create, to rehearse, to perform, to exhibit, to jam, to learn, to entertain, to showcase or to simply watch,” said owner and founder of The Hive, Darshana Thakkar.

“If you’ve always wanted to do any or all of the above but didn't quite know where to start, start at The Hive,” she added.

Teachers at the centre will include local celebrity and radio DJ Malavika Varadan, actor, singer and musician Nishant Jaiswal, and Bollywood dancer and choreographer Krishna Khamkar.

The co-founder of The Hive, actor and director Jimish Thakkar, will also conduct theatre workshops.

“The Hive aims to cultivate talent and offer the deserving creative an unfussy, do-what-you-want-with-it space, without asking a lot of questions,” said Thakkar.

The centre’s first quarter calendar is already set to feature drama, dance, storytelling, makeup, photography, and chalk art workshops.

It also offers spaces to artists who want to exhibit their art or record their music.

The Hive is located in Suite 601 of the Mostafawi Business Centre in Bur Dubai, UAE.
