Dubai entered the record books for the second time this year with the longest handmade gold chain.

The 5.52km-long 22-carat gold chain took 100 people 45 days to make the four million individual pieces to create.

Dubbed the Dubai Celebration Chain, the 256kg piece of jewellery was put together by Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group to mark the 20th anniversary of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) this year.

The chain, which was created by Siroya Jewellers, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Sky Jewellery, Joyalukkas and Emerald Jewellers, will be on display to the public at the Old RTA Bus Station, opposite the Gold Centre in Deira, until January 8 before being into varying lengths and sold.

Each piece of the chain will come with an authentication code to show that it is part of the record-breaking chain.
