Sheikh Hamdan backs plans to set up two main divisions - Strategy and Customer Experience and Technology and Solutions
The Dubai Smart Government initiative entered a new phase on Wednesday with the approval of its organisational structure by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
In addition to the director general's Office, the new structure includes the Consultative Council, Corporate Support Services and Internal Auditing.
Under the new structure, the organisation is comprised of two main divisions - Strategy and Customer Experience and Technology and Solutions.
The Strategy and Customer Experience division, which is responsible for setting strategy and ultimate customer experience through customer engagement, features four separate departments - Strategy and Innovation, Customer Experience, Customer Relations Management and Marketing & Corporate Communication.
The second division, Technology and Solutions, is responsible for the development and implementation of best practices, infrastructure, applications and innovation and includes five departments - Infrastructure, Smart Services, Government Resources Planning Services, Information Security and Information Analysis.
The Executive Council Resolution enables Dubai Smart Government to carry out its responsibilities in building a knowledge-based community by supporting Dubai Government's smart transformation and helping government departments provide innovative smart services.
The Resolution also aims to enhance the operational efficiency of DSG's departments and sections and ensure alignment with both DSG Strategy 2014-2017 and Dubai Plan 2021.
DSG director general Ahmed Mohammed Bin Humaidan said the new structure "will better empower the organisation to keep pace with rapid developments taking place in the country and enhance its ability to provide innovative smart solutions that can accelerate Dubai government's transformation into a smart government".For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
