The event has attracted more than 400 publishing houses from 40 countries
Over 124,000 people have visited the fifth Jeddah International Book Fair.
The event, which was launched by Makkah Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, has attracted more than 400 publishing houses from 40 countries and features 350,000 books.
Over 200 authors have also been present at the fair, which is being held at a 30,000 square metre site at Events Land in South Obhur, interacting with readers and signing books.
Among the myriad of attractions, a pavilion has been specially allocated to Saudi authors, who have not been able to find a publishing house, to give them a platform from which to promote their books, as part of an initiative organised by the Ministry of Culture.
There are also stalls promoting children’s books and games with various fun-filled educational activities sponsored by companies, including a reading campaign organised by car rental company, Al-Wifaq.
