Dubai education show GETEX postponed to 2021 amid virus fears
Schools are currently closed in the UAE due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Organisers of the annual Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) have announced that the event will be postponed until next year amid rising concerns about the new coronavirus.

As Covid-19 cases rise in the UAE to 113, organisers said they will move the event from April 16-18 to March 25–27, 2021 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).

The decision is in line with the UAE government’s efforts to implement precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the protection of public health and safety, a statement said.

It is one of a large number of events in the UAE that have been either postponed or cancelled due to the impact of Covid-19.

The organisers of GETEX said they have also committed to host an abridged version of the Student Recruitment event on June 11-12 to help schools and universities in their student enrollment drive for their respective September 2020 intake.

This bespoke event will also be held at the Dubai International Convention Centre during the time when the recruitment of students is at its peak.
