UAE extends distance learning for schools until June

The decision applies to all public and private schools and higher education institutions at the state level.

UAE’s Ministry of Education has announced that distance learning for all schools and universities will continue until the end of the current academic year.

The ministry said the decision applies to all public and private schools and higher education institutions at the state level.

In a series of tweets this afternoon, the ministry said the decision to extend the distance learning system comes in response to the exceptional circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, and the UAE’s efforts to curb its spread.

“The Ministry is working on a methodology, which includes the application of evaluation mechanisms and exams for the remainder of the current academic year 2019-2020 in a way that is in the interest of students,” the ministry said.

A new study plan that “guarantees the sustainability of teaching and learning” has been prepared and will be circulated to all schools tomorrow.

"Learning will continue regardless of the circumstances,” Dr Amna Al Dhahak, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education, told a media briefing today.
