EGSAC appoints Jordan agent

European General Sales Agency Cargo has appointed Jordan International Air Solutions as its exclusive member for Jordan.

EGSAC (European General Sales Agency Cargo), which claims to be the largest GSSA network in Europe, has appointed Jordan International Air Solutions (JIAS) as its exclusive member for Jordan.

JIAS is a newly-incorporated company that has taken over the GSSA activities of Jordan International Air Cargo (JIAC). JIAS is wholly-owned by the Jordanian government, and represents CAL Cargo Airlines, Continental Airlines, Air Canada Cargo, Kuzu Airlines and South American Airlines.

It also represents JIAC, which itself provides regular IL76 freighter services into Iraq.

“We are proud and delighted to have been chosen as EGSAC’s member for Jordan,” said Ziad Hanandeh, chief executive, JIAS. “This is an exciting market, which is playing a key role in support and reconstruction for Iraq.

"With our ability to act as a gateway for the rest of the world, and our access to freighter capacity, we anticipate many opportunities for us, for our fellow EGSAC members and for the many airlines we collectively represent.”

JIAS has offices in central Amman, the city’s Marka Airport, and at Aqaba. It plans to open offices in Iraq in the near future, to support JIAC’s freighter operations.

The appointment of JIAS brings EGSAC’s membership to 29. The EGSAC network now covers Europe, Scandinavia, India, parts of the Middle East, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

“EGSAC continues to expand into new markets which represent excellent opportunities for the 150 airlines already marketed by our members,” said Ton Smulders, vice president, EGSAC.

“We are delighted to welcome Ziad and his colleagues to EGSAC. JIAS holds a commanding position in Jordan, and its prestige and solid parentage fit very well with the criteria we set for our members.”
