Eko to expand by acquisitions

Polish supermarket chain Eko is planning to fuel its future expansion through the acquisition of small to medium sized retailers, with a range of five to 50 stores, according Polish press reports. Eko currently operates 170 stores in the southern and western provinces of Poland and generated sales of US $170 million in 2005. Eko Holding, which was established in 1995, opened its first store in May 1996 in Nysa.
