Emirates Bank upgrades BankNet

Emirates Bank Group (EBG) has awarded the project to upgrade their Internet Banking Service—BankNet to Emirates Computers (EC).

Emirates Bank Group (EBG) has awarded the project to upgrade their Internet Banking Service—BankNet to Emirates Computers (EC).

The project, due to be launched in October 2000, will offer customers a wide range of functions and features, in addition to the existing online functions and a totally new look of BankNet.

“The decision to upgrade BankNet and to provide a host of other features and functions is a great leap forward for banking in the region and the level of services we will be able to offer to our customers.

"We hope that this is just the beginning, and that EC and EBG will continue to develop and expand into multiple areas of e-business technology as and when they develop,” said Anis Al Jallaf, managing director and chief executive of Emirates Bank Group.

BankNet—Internet Banking Service, has been designed to serve the market 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from anywhere in the world.

It will offer Emirates Bank International and Middle East Bank customers numerous features and functions while providing greater cost effectiveness and potential flexibility for additional services as the pace of technology continues to advance.

“Emirates Computers is pleased to have been chosen by EBG to Implement the new Internet Banking solution in the region,” said Hani Harik, president, Emirates Comp-uters.

“EBI has a track record in putting technology to good use for the benefit of their customers, with this latest initiative. We are sure that together EBG & EC project team, will deliver on the bank's vision to take its services to new levels, further strengthening EBG's position as a world leader in financial services.”

E-Banking Trend

This project joins the worldwide trend towards “e-banking” as the scopes of opportunities available on the Internet are explored to greater levels. E-banking offers customers, often an attractive interest rates, an electronic relationship that conveniently allows users among other services to open accounts, obtain bank balances, transfer funds, pay bills and apply for loans on the Internet.

The levels of cost effectiveness offered by cyber banking and the convenience it offers customers continues to attract many banks around the world today.
