Emirates passenger “assaulted” cabin crew in attempt to open plane door

Expat panicked and demanded to be let off the aircraft minutes before take-off

Emirates passenger “assaulted” cabin crew in attempt to open plane door

A 29-year-old Pakistani farmer has appeared in court in Dubai over the alleged assault of three members of Emirates Airline’s cabin crew.

According to 7Days newspaper, the man is said to have panicked and tried to open the door of the aircraft minutes before take-off during the incident on June 12 this year.

As he made his way to the door, he pushed two members of the aircraft’s cabin crew and punched another.

After the captain was informed, the plane was stopped and the man was arrested by police.

“I asked him why he wanted to get off the
plane but he didn’t answer me. He was moving a lot and pointing at the door so
we asked him to sit, but he didn’t,” one of the cabin crew involved in the incident was quoted as saying by The National newspaper.

The man, who is based in Al Ain, was charged with using violence and posing a danger to the lives of other passengers.  He denied the charges at the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The judge recommended that the man be sent to a mental institution for evaluation, and the trial will recommence in November.
