Glitch in Emirates' system automatically upgraded some Skywards members but problem soon rectified
A technical glitch in Emirates' system automatically upgraded some Skywards members, but the airline was quick in rectifying their mistake.
An upgrade from Blue to Silver status gives customers access to business class lounge, priority check-in and boarding and excess baggage allowance.
“Due to a technical error, an email was sent informing some Emirates Skywards members of a tier upgrade. Emirates has contacted all affected customers and re-instated their correct tier status. Emirates apologises for the inconvenience this has caused,” an Emirates spokesperson said.
A post by an irked Skywards member on Emirates Facebook page said: “Yesterday I received an email telling me I had earned enough tier miles to receive a Silver loyalty card. Today, I received another email telling me the first email had been a technical mistake! Come on Emirates, It was your mistake not mine, so why punish me? That is just mean and bad PR.”
In response, Emirates said: “Due to a system error your tier was upgraded to Silver. Our Skywards Team has sent out an email informing you of this error and we’re sorry about it.
