Former Tech Data Middle East general manager Loay Qaddoura has joined distributor Empa as its new senior VP.
Qaddoura takes on a role that has been sitting vacant since Empa veteran Savas Yucedag left for Microsoft more than six months ago. Qaddoura, who reports directly to boss Rahb Hamidaddin and the Empa board, says his aim is to strengthen Empa's market position in what is poised to be a momentous year for the firm as it prepares to move to a new HQ and warehouse facility in Jebel Ali.
"One of the things that impressed me with Empa is that they have everything in place - infrastructure, products, resources," said Qaddoura. "I have experience in multi-national companies and my aim is to improve Empa in areas such as logistics, credit and customer relations. We are going to build the Empa name and the first plan is to work on strengthening our relationships with current vendors to increase the share of business we do with them."
Qaddoura boasts myriad vendor contacts from his time in the Middle East and he is looking to use his background to further enhance ties with existing vendors such as Intel and Kingston.
He continued: "The second plan is to add more brands, especially in the first-tier enterprise sector."For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
