Think Petrochem Middle East and you instantly think of two words: Yogesh Mehta.
He established Petrochem Middle East in 1995 with friend and business partner David Lubbock.
The company has since gone from strength-to-strength to become one of the largest independent petrochemical distributors in the region, with a state-of-the-art storage terminal for bulk and drum chemicals in Jebel Ali.A Harvard Business School alumnus, he believes that his organisation’s success has been based on anticipating market and customer needs.
He constantly asserts that his employees are the business’s greatest assets, and once told Arabian Business how he will sit with everyone from the cleaning staff to board members in his company canteen so that he can gauge their views.
When it comes to innovation, what really stands out is the state of the art facility in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone that he built. It which handles more than 180 variants of chemicals.
Established in 1999, the existing facility includes 3 dedicated Jetty pipe lines, 23 bulk storage tanks for import and storage of products in bulk with total storage capacity to 25650m3, drumming facility, tanker/ISO tanks loading gantry with top loading arms, 5 Canopies for storage of NFPA class 1 B & C chemicals with approx. 35,000 drums storage capacity, a state of the art firefighting system covering all areas with foam and sprinkler and all other associated infrastructural facilities.
The terminal exports more than 700,000 metric tons of products to all the corners of the world.
