The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a new DEWA ‘store’ on its smart app designed to provide exclusive offers and discounts to customers, it was announced on Wednesday.
According to DEWA, the move is the first of its kind by a government entity in the UAE, and forms part of DEWA’s larger effort to enhance levels of customer happiness and satisfaction through the use of smart services.
Dewa Store offers will include discounts on telecommunications packages, bank services, insurance, smart-home systems, maintenance companies, consultants and logistics companies.
“DEWA’s role is not just limited to providing electricity and water services according to the highest standards of quality, efficiency and reliability,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA. “DEWA plays a role as a socially-responsible government organisation that makes every effort to contribute to promoting a happier lifestyle.”
In May, DEWA announced that it has signed an agreement with global money transfer firm Western Union that will allow customers to collect their security deposit refunds from locations around the world.
Customers will be able to request for the refund of their security deposits through DEWA’s website or smart app and choose Western Union as the pay-out option. Once the customer receives confirmation from DEWA that their deposit is ready for collection, the money will be available from Western Union agent locations in the UAE or around the world within minutes.
