An Emirates Airline flight
to Boston faced an engine fire upon landing on Sunday, the Dubai-based carrier
has confirmed

“Emirates can confirm that its flight EK 237, a Boeing 777-300 ER from Dubai International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport on 10th August 2014 experienced a small engine fire on landing,” the airline said in a statement provided to Arabian Business.

“The fire was quickly extinguished and all 349 passengers and 19 crew safely disembarked the aircraft at the airport terminal.”

The fire caused the return flight from Boston to Dubai to be delayed by 12 hours, according to the airline’s schedule online.

A second Emirates Boeing 777-300 ER has been sent from Dubai to pick up Boston passengers who were due to depart on EK 238 at 11.15pm on Sunday.

The aircraft is due to land in Boston at 9.40am on Monday and is scheduled to depart at 11.15am, landing at Dubai International at 7.30am on Tuesday.

“Emirates apologises for the inconvenience; its paramount consideration at all times is the safety of its passengers and crew,” the airline’s statement says.
