Envirotainer expands container fleet

Envirotainer, a supplier of airfreight containers, has announced plans to increase its fleet of specialised temperature-controlled containers by 10% to meet growing demand from the international healthcare sector.

Envirotainer, a supplier of airfreight containers, has announced plans to increase its fleet of specialised temperature-controlled containers by 10% to meet growing demand from the international healthcare sector.

Last year, in research by a consulting firm on behalf of Envirotainer, key decision-makers in the healthcare industry and logistics providers forecast that the volume of temperature sensitive airfreight would grow at 10% per annum for the next five years. As a result, the company will introduce an additional 200 containers for customers by July 2007, with further plans to produce another 175 containers in the near future.

"We are making this significant investment to expand our fleet in order to cope with demand for Envirotainer's containers from the healthcare industry and from our airline and logistics customers that have developed their own premium cold chain products by incorporating the use of our technology," said Patrick Tobler, vice president operations, Envirotainer.

"By adding over 10% of new capacity within such a short timescale, we will also ensure we provide the level of container availability and service quality our customers require from us in the peak demand periods during the third and fourth quarters of the year."
