ePro mulls direct presence

Dubai-based vendor ePro is in talks with distribution partners to establish direct presences in territories across the Middle East and beyond after this year’s European expansion. ePro is also boosting its service offerings to distributors and will launch new product lines for 2005.

“We have spent this year ensuring that the ePro name has the coverage it deserves throughout the Middle East and Africa,” said Shailendra Rughwani, ePro CEO. “Some of our distributors have taken a step further and approached us with plans to set up direct ePro operations in their own countries. Right now we are in talks with a company in Turkey and have even received a request from as far as Australia, on the other side of the world.”

From its Jebel Ali hub, the company has successfully expanded the brand into European markets. “We took a chance on attending CeBit and the response was encouraging. Now our business is growing in countries like Germany and France, where surprisingly not only our consumer products are in demand, but also assembly kit such as casings and monitors,” added Rughwani.

According to Rughwani, stepping up service support goes hand in hand with expanding channel reach. “Initially we took care of consumers mainly through our distributors. We began a programme some time back to train distributors’ engineers, so that technical issues could be dealt with at source. We also provided buffer stocks, for immediate replacement. New distributors will receive the same level of support, which proves vital for building and maintaining customer confidence.”

For the year ahead ePro will be strengthening its portfolio of products with more consumer electronics offerings, including new MP3 players, multimedia devices, and also wireless solutions, as the brand looks to capitalise on consumer demand for all things digital.
