Epson targets small offices with new MFD

Epson has updated its range of all-in-one products aimed at small office users.

Epson has updated its range of all-in-one products aimed at small office users.

The company’s new CX5400 multi-function device (MFD) combines print, scan and copy functions and will replace Epson’s Stylus CX5200.

"As a growing number of consumers in the region seek a more flexible work environment, there is more demand for powerful devices that can perform multiple functions," said Khalil El-Dalu, general manager, Epson Middle East. "The Stylus CX5400 combines the very latest in Epson printing, scanning and copying technology and durability to bring exceptionally high quality output and speed to the home user."

Epson claims to have improved the Stylus CX5400’s print engine to increase its quoted print speeds to 22ppm black economy and 11ppm colour. As with all Epson’s inkjet products this new MFD offers a resolution of 5760dpi and can output border-free prints on A4 media, fitting its billing as a small office solution.

The CX5400’s on-board scanner offers a claimed print resolution of up to 1200x2400dpi, while the unit’s copier can be used in standalone mode without the need for a PC. In keeping with its SOHO remit the CX5400 also bundles Epson’s Smart Panel software, which lets users automatically choose the correct print parameters for the document they want to output.

The CX5400 follows hot on the heels of other new Epson models launched last month. In the Middle East region the firm launched the Stylus Photo RX500 printer for photo enthusiasts and in the US it offered a possible glimpse of the future with the release of its Livingstation TV, which can print and store pictures.
