Ericsson to build Egypt GSM network for Etisalat Misr

Etisalat Misr signs Ericsson for major turnkey GSM network project

Etisalat Misr, the Egyptian subsidiary of Etisalat, has awarded a GSM network expansion contract to Ericsson. The project will extend Etisalat Misr's capacity, to enable further growth in the county.

The contract includes a complete buildout of the GSM and WCDMA/HSPA network, including the core network along with charging and billing solutions.

Ericsson will also provide services including site acquisition, civil works, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and integration services.

Saleh El Abdooli, CEO of Etisalat Misr, said: "Our latest agreement with Ericsson, one of the world's top suppliers of telecom solutions, is yet another major step forward in aligning the interests of the operator and the vendor partner. The initiative will substantially strengthen Etisalat's leadership position as a provider of high-tech telecom services to its customers."

The value of the contract was not disclosed, although Etisalat Misr did reveal that is has now spent more than Euros 200 million ($293m) with Ericsson through long term projects and co-operation.
