eSeat massages more than your ego

Panasonic has set the standard of cool this year at Gitex: behold the eSeat, the ultimate all-in-one personal entertainment seat. This hi-tech and innovative product is in fact a voluminous luxury chair, incorporating an array of home entertainment, communication and relaxation equipment. The arsenal of audio-visual components installed within the broad wood-panelled arms of the huge seat include a 15-inch widescreen LCD TV, VCR, DVD-RAM and notebook PC. The eSeat is also fitted with a home theatre system, comprising a 50-inch plasma display. But what if a fully fledged home cinema unit isn’t quite enough to allow you to escape the office? How about a compressed air massage chair, boasting vibrating leg massage, negative ion effect and full-flat reclining? For the security conscious, there is even the option of an indoor/outdoor surveillance camera, plus panic button and electronic locking system.“The eSEAT is Panasonic’s answer to the need of converged entertainment and communication systems for today’s discerning and demanding executive customers,” says Takeshi Mizuno, Engineer, Design Team, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., Japan. “It employs cutting edge technology to provide the ultimate experience in luxury at the touch of a button. It leverages Panasonic’s superior reputation for excellence in consumer electronics to achieve the pinnacle of luxurious style of living.”A marriage of form and function, the audio-visual equipment is stored within the seat’s broad arms, which resemble wooden cabinets. Hot on aesthetics, the chair also benefits from quality calfskin finish. Launched in Japan in the spring of 2002, the eSeat is now available overseas. Panasonic is taking orders for customised systems and is ready to cater to individual requests.“The eSeat practically eliminates the need to have so many different entertainment devices by integrating advanced audio, video, communication and relaxation systems within the confines of a specially designed seat that boasts 21st century conceptual design in interior furnishings,” continues Takeshi Mizuno. “The state-of-the-art equipment offers users the ultimate sound and visual effects through the most modern technology developed by Panasonic,” explains Mizuno. “The entire operation of the eSeat can be handled by remote control through the Touch Panel System Controller.”
