Air Berlin's board of directors will decide on a new restructuring programme for the German airline in the coming weeks, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.

Germany's second-largest airline, 29 percent owned by Abu Dhabi-based Etihad, has made operating losses in four of the last five years. It is reviewing routes and its fleet of 140 planes as part of efforts to return to profit in 2016.
