Cargo unit of UAE flag bearer to launch new weekly freighter ops to Qatar from Sept 3
Etihad Cargo will inaugurate a new weekly freighter operation from Abu Dhabi to the Qatari capital, Doha, from September 3.
The new cargo service will operate every Monday using an Airbus A300-600F freighter, with a capacity of 42 metric tonnes, the airline said in a statement.
Etihad Airways already operates 26 weekly Airbus A319, A320 and A330 passenger services between the two cities, it added.
David Kerr, vice president of Etihad Cargo, said: "We are delighted to launch our first dedicated freighter service to Doha, and believe that it will further strengthen the trade ties between the UAE and Qatar."
Etihad Cargo operates to a total of 86 destinations internationally.
The cargo division of the UAE flag carrier operates a fleet of six freighters.
Earlier this month, Etihad Cargo posted record monthly figures for July with network volumes approaching 33,000 tonnes.
The figure represented an increase of 18 percent on the same month last year while also surpassing a previous month record of 31,700 tonnes which Etihad Cargo carried in March.
Total revenues for the month were up by four percent on June and up eight percent on the corresponding period the previous year, the statement added.
