Nick Wood, GM of the airline's leisure division, has left to pursue new challenges.
Etihad Holidays has lost one of its key assets - the company's general manager, Nick Wood.
Responsible for successfully establishing Etihad Airways' leisure division more than four years ago and having recently launched the operator's largest summer brochure yet, Wood has resigned in order to "pursue new challenges", an Etihad spokesman told Arabian Travel News.
"It's a real shame to see someone of such high calibre leave the company," said Etihad Airways public relations manager, Damian James.
"He was the one who started up Etihad Holidays and he had a real feel for the business, but it's his personal decision to leave; he wants to go onto the next challenge."
James said no replacement for Wood had been appointed and hinted that his departure could provide an opportunity to restructure the business, although no firm plans of this nature were in the pipeline.
Wood is currently on three months' gardening leave and understood to be staying in Abu Dhabi for the time being.
