Etisalat brings wi-fi to UAE with Hotspots for Hotels

Etisalat to work with hotel operators to bring wireless roaming and flexible billing to visitors and guests to UAE hotels

Etisalat has announced a new service to extend wi-fi hotspots to hotels and resorts in the UAE.

The Hotspots for Hotels program Etisalat will offer an end-to-end solution for hotel operators who want to give guests and visitors wireless access with flexible billing solutions.

Etisalat will provide the infrastructure, deployment services and backhaul broadband internet access at no cost to the hotel operator, and will also integrate the billing system with the hotel's property management systems. At present, the system has been integrated with Fidelio/Opera hotel management systems, although other systems may follow.

The system will allow hoteliers to provide Internet access both in rooms and in the public areas of the hotel, with guests able to roam freely between the two. Hotspots for Hotels will also allow hotels to charge guests for Internet access as part of their normal room billing. Previously hotels in the UAE had to rely on pre-paid cards to offer the service to guests. Etisalat said that it will work with the hotel operator to find the most appropriate billing scheme for guests.

Abdulla Hashim, VP, Marketing, Enterprise Solutions, Etisalat said: "The launch of the Etisalat Hotspots for hotels will be a great asset for hotels and will add value to the hospitality experience of their guests. This is yet another example of how Etisalat is innovating to segment the market and launch niche solutions to meet customer needs in different verticals."
