Dnata, the Dubai-based air services provider, has confirmed that investigations are underway into the cause of a tragic accident which claimed the lives of three people in the UK on New Year’s Eve.

Three people were killed – two men, aged 25 and 23, and a 20-year-old woman – when their Toyota Yaris was involved in a crash with the Dnata Mercedes HGV in Stanwell, Surrey, shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Dnata said: “We are fully assisting relevant authorities with their investigations. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families of those affected by this very sad incident.”

Following the collision, the lorry left the road and ended up partly submerged in a nearby river. A 25-year-old is said to be in a serious condition in hospital, while the lorry driver was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The victims of the accident, near Heathrow Airport, were all British Airways cabin crew.

A statement from the airline said: “We’re deeply saddened to learn of the death of our colleagues involved in a road traffic collision last night.

“Our thoughts are with their family and friends, who we are supporting at this distressing time.”
