A worker was found dead at one of the UAE’s international airports last week, it was confirmed, with the circumstances surrounding the incident not yet fully clear.

The unnamed Filipino male, who was in his 30s, was found hanging from the ceiling of Fujairah International Airport on February 2, the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday.

Forensic investigators are yet to determine the cause of death of the man, who worked in the airport’s food distribution unit.

“Our Consulate General in Dubai confirmed that a Filipino was found dead at the Fujairah Airport last Saturday. His lifeless body was seen hanging from the airport’s ceiling,” DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said.

“The employment agency of the deceased has already been asked to inform his next-of-kin of his death,” Hernandez added.

“Our Consulate General will also assist in the repatriation of his remains as soon as the investigation is concluded,” he said.

There are close to 1m Filipinos living and working in the UAE, according to government figures in the South-East Asian country.

It is against God's commands to kill yourself or harm you body. We need to tell people that. They need to believe in God and help them out if there are hardships. Never give up is the meaning of life. It is a test. Not a bunch of pleasure seeking events like the TV and media indoctrinate.
