Both international firms and small artisan producers can showcase their products at the six-month happening
The Expo 2020 Dubai announced yesterday it is searching for fragrance brands across the Gulf region to showcase their Arabic perfumes, essential oils and bukhoor on the platform that is set to receive millions of visitors.
It said everyone from international firms to small artisan producers will be considered for the six month happening from October 2020 to April 2021.
In the UAE alone, the perfume market was estimated at AED1.5b ($423m) in 2015, according to figures by Euromonitor International, while the Middle East and Africa beauty and personal care market, which happens to be the fastest growing beauty market in the world, was estimated at AED100b ($27.1b).
The fragrance products will be sold at the Expo 2020 Dubai site, Expo retail stores and other selected outlets across the UAE.
Perfume is believed to be deeply rooted in Middle Eastern culture, famous for its Arabian perfumes that come with essential oils and bukhoor.
"…this is also the first World Expo in Middle East, Africa and South Asia, so we also want products to reflect our heritage as well. This region is famous for its perfumes ingrained in our traditions. We want people who visit Expo 2020 Dubai from around the world to experience these amazing aromas and take home with them a scent of Arabia,” Najeeb Al-Ali, executive director, Bureau Expo 2020 Dubai said.
Applicants who are interested in becoming licensed fragrance producers for the Expo 2020 Dubai can register on the event’s official website by April 20, 2017.
