Fantastic response to awards

The Middle East hotel community has responded enthusiastically to the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2007, with nominations flooding in.

The Middle East hotel community has responded enthusiastically to the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2007, with nominations flooding in.

Despite tougher requirements this year there were plenty of high-quality nominations, leaving judges with some hard decisions to make to determine the eventual winners.

ITP Business Publishing's senior group editor Gemma Greenwood said the quality of nominations was overwhelming.

"We have received hundreds of top notch nominations from many hotels across the region. It's great to see that hotel staff Middle East-wide have stepped up to the mark and embraced our awards programme once again," she said. "Having read through all of the nominations all I can reveal is that each and every category is going to be hotly contested."

The judging panel this year includes Emirates Academy managing director Ron Hilvert, Deloitte HotelBenchmark executive director Lorna Clarke, Kerry Roberts Associates director Kerry van der Zyl, Emirates Fine Wine sales manager Jean Marc Vettesi, and representatives from Hotelier Middle East and Caterer Middle East.

Caterglobal.com is supporting the awards for the second year in a row, sponsoring the HR Manager of the Year, while Bentley Europe BV is supporting the Procurement Manager of the Year award. This year's award ceremony will be held at the Madinat Jumeirah resort in Dubai on October 31.
